Sun 22 Nov 2015 - Tue 22 Dec 2015
Today sees the start of UK Disability History Month which runs from the 22nd November to the 22nd December 2015. The aim is to celebrate and showcase the achievements of disabled people, challenge disabilism and working towards the goal of achieving equality!
The Students' Union at UWE is very proud to be joining in with the UK celebrations.
Kevin Wilson (Disabled Students' Officer at the Students' Union) has worked alongside the Disabled Staff Network (DSN) to create a series of posters which highlight notable disabled people and the achievements they have had.
Check out the posters around campus and learn more about these amazing people!
UK Disability History Month will be running all over the UK with a series of events and activities, looking back at the history of disabled people, looking at how much has been achieved but also how much more there is to do!
The Students' Union works tirelessly to ensure everything we do is free from abuse and harassment, and that we are completely accessible to all.
The Students' Union and University have a joint safer spaces policy which outlines it's clear position on zero tolerance to sexual and domestic violence, abuse and harrassment.
We have also recently launched our campaign 'End It Now' which looks to tackle all forms of abuse and harassment at UWE and improve support available. More information can be found about the campaign here.
