LGBT+ History Month celebrates the lives and achievements of the LGBT + community. This month we will be celebrating through a series of events.
The Students' Union Staff will be wearing rainbow ribbons and Sports teams will be wearing either rainbow laces or wristbands in support of LGBT+ History Month: Squash, Rugby Union, Basketball, Badminton, American Football, Boat, Dance, Riding, Sub Aqua and Volleyball. .
Wednesday 3 February: Craft and Film event
Come and join in with making Flags/Bunting and anything decorative to go up in The Students’ Union. We will also be showing the film Milk (runtime 2h 8m) with donations for sweets and refreshment going to Terrence Higgins Trust.

Thursday 4 February: Quiz
Release your inner Quizteam-a Aguilera and exercise that clever brain of yours for the chance of winning up to £100. Come along to the regular where a few LGBT+ rounds will be in the quiz, including a picture round of LGBT+ famous individuals and a general knowledge LGBT round (this will include some sexual health questions).

Monday 15 February: Bake Sale
We will be giving out LGBT+ information leaflets along with cakes and treats so people take away more than just cake. Donations for sweets and refreshment going to Terrence Higgins Trust.

Wednesday 17 February: LGBT+ Panel Discussion
A very important part of LGBT+ History Month is raising awareness of the issues that LGBT+ individuals face. We are holding a panel discussion to raise awareness for LGBT+ issues, challenge stereotypical views and phobias (homophobia, biphobia and transphobia) and to celebrate the lives of LGBT+ individuals. The panel will consist of author and director of Educational Action Challenging Homophobia (EACH), Jonathan Charlesworth, Rainbow Employee Network and Terrence Higgins Trust as well as others. There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the event.

A discussion of LGBT+ Mental Health Issues with Mental Health Campaign, plus a film screening.

Thursday 18 February: UWE Film Society screening of 'But I'm a Cheerleader'
Join us for the satirical, campy romantic-comedy But I’m a Cheerleader, following an all-American cheerleader sent to a conversion therapy camp by her parents to cure her of her lesbianism. A cult-classic, But I’m a Cheerleader is celebrated for its humour, tenderness and vivid art direction.

Tuesday 23 February: The Lock-In supporting LGBT+ History Month
The regular Lock-In will be kitted out with LGBT+ flags and decorations to support LGBT+ History Month, everyone is welcome. Dress to impress at this LGBT+ event

Friday 26 February: International STAND UP to Bullying Day
International STAND UP to Bullying Day takes place on February 26, 2016. International STAND UP to Bullying Day is a special semi-annual event in which participants sign and wear a pink “pledge shirt” to take a visible, public stance against bullying. The event takes place in schools, workplaces, and organizations in 25 countries across the globe on the third Friday of November to coincide with Anti-bullying week, and then again on the last Friday of February.
Monday 29 February: Coffee and Celebration
To celebrate the end of a fantastic LGBT+ history month we will be holding a coffee and celebration event on campus. The event is a chance to network and come together after a month of reflection and celebration. Those that have put together the array of Students’ Union events we have had will be there. So as a community, and its allies, we shall say goodbye to this rainbow month, on a leap year day, giving it a good LGBT+ send off!
