St Werburghs, Bristol
An opportunity to visit a successful cul-de-sac cohousing project in inner city Bristol. The site visit will include a presentation and a tour of the site where you can gather ideas of spatial arrangement, thresholds between public and private, and how the residents use the spaces on site. This site visit would highly benefit Architecture year 2 students as the topic is relevant to Studio 2 projects, but the visit is open to all members of the Architecture society. The site has some incredible self-build architecture including a Gaudi-esque building which you should also look at. There is a farm, a pub, café, and graffiti tunnel which you may also which to visit all located within this cul-de-sac. Everything is within easy walking distance so you can make a day of it!
The trip is subsidised by the Architecture Society so please only sign up if you are sure you can attend, else you will be wasting money and spaces that other students could use. In order to attend, you must have a ticket and be a member of the Architecture Society (which is free and easy to join), please use the following link to sign up and obtain your ticket: https://www.thestudentsunion.co.uk/soc/bark/. Initially, there will only be 20 spaces available but if interest exceeds this, we may be able to arrange for more spaces.
The visit is scheduled for Wednesday 17th February at 11:15. You will need to make your own way to the site, however it isn’t too far away from UWE and there are many bus stops within a walkable distance to the site. The meeting point is as shown on the following link: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Ashley+Vale+Action+Group+-+Wildgoose+Space/@51.4738263,-2.5770123,18z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0000000000000000:0x788f31c55eee109c
