Donate your unwanted items to charity
How to get rid of unwanted items, donate to charity, win a meal from a lovely independent restaurant and save the planet in 7 easy steps.
The Bristol Big Give is an annual student move-out collection and recycling campaign run, collaboratively between UWE Bristol and Bristol University which donates unwanted goods to charity.
It encourages students to donate all their unwanted clothes, books and other reusable items rather than throw them away into landfill.
Last year we helped donate 72.98 tonnes of reusable goods, which in turn raised up to £125,660 for charity.

Here is the Bristol Big Give guide
Step 1
Have a summer clear out and create an “unwanted pile” – this can include kitchenware, clothes, food, sports equipment and books
Step 2
Put them in a Bristol Big Give bag – If you’re in Halls these should have been posted through your post box, but can also be found at the receptions. They can also be collected from The Students' Union reception, Information points or the community hub. But if the bus ride onto campus is just too long then don’t worry a regular bin bag will do.
Step 3
Search for your nearest donation bin here:
If you’re in halls there should be bins by your accommodation reception.
**If you or your housemates have larger items for donation you can arrange a free collection by the British Heart Foundation online.
Step 4
Take a selfie of you putting your unwanted items in one of the donation bins, just like the one below…
Step 5
Tweet your picture to @thegreen_team with the #BristolBigGive just like this one…
Step 6
Tell all your pals to go to Step 1 and pat yourself on the back for making the world a better place.
Step 7
Keep an eye on your twitter to see if you are one of the lucky chosen three to win a £25 YourStreet gift card and discover where you can redeem it here
