This year UWE RAG are supporting Childreach International (an international children’s rights charity) by climbing Kilimanjaro and trekking the Great Wall of China!
If you choose to take on Kilimanjaro you’ll get the opportunity to take on the highest free standing mountain in the world, trekking up to Uhuru peak; a truly once in a lifetime experience! You’ll follow the Machame Route on a 6-day trek that will take you through mountain forests, alpine desert, and up to the snow-capped roof of Africa at 5,895 metres above sea level!
If you trek the Great Wall you’ll be heading to the largest man made feature in the world and you’ll get the opportunity to discover large areas of the wall off the tourist routes getting to discover the authentic Chinese culture and history as you stay with local people in guesthouses along the route, discover real Chinese cuisine and you even get the chance to toboggan down the side of the wall!
If you head to Kilimanjaro you’ll get a fantastic opportunity to visit one of the schools Childreach Tanzania work with through their projects and see the impact of your support, for those heading to China you’ll head to the London Office for a day to hear more about all our projects and get an understanding of the work we do. As well as this you’ll get the opportunity to choose your own independent travel after your trek to enjoy all that Tanzania or China has to offer from going on Safari to travelling to Beijing and Shanghai!
Both challenges will take place from the 23rd August 2016 (based on the trip option including flights). Click here to sign up! Or email edward.sainsbury@childreach.org.uk for more information.
