Green Wheels is a student led entrepreneurial project that focuses on growing and sustaining the number of cyclists at UWE, Bristol.
Based on the Frenchay Campus, Green Wheels are setting up an on-campus cycle shop to support UWE’s cyclists with their every need from cycle servicing and repair to getting a new set of lights or a helmet. They’re also here to encourage four wheel commuters to change down to two, from selling new or second-hand bikes to helping those who need some assistance in learning the ways of the road.
Why not travel by bike? See more of the city than the M32, traffic jams and permanent road works. Keep fit whilst travelling to and from University and enjoy contributing towards a greener city.
To provide new bikes, Green Wheels works closely with Mango (www.mangobikes.com) who bring customisable rides to a more affordable market by allowing you to fully customise your bike in terms of colour. Head over to their website for more information of the range of bikes that Green Wheels stock as well as to find the bike designer where you can start building your dream bike today. Save 10% when buying through Green Wheels! From £242 with a 10% discount.
For second-hand bikes, old rides that nobody loves anymore arrive at Green Wheels' doorstep, lonely, cold and tired. They take them in, nurture them and freshen them up to make them the two wheeled dream that you’ve been looking for. Priced from £60 to £150, perfect for those with a tighter budget. Got an old bike that no one uses? DONATE IT NOW! Support Green Wheels’ mission by donating your old bike today to give someone a new bike tomorrow.
It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from or what your budget is… Green Wheels can get you on two wheels.
Need your bike fixed? No problem. They have a qualified CYTECH Mechanic under their roof with five years’ experience who fixes bikes at a competitive price and with a smile. Drop Green Wheels a Facebook message for more information.
To further support UWE’s cycling community, they also run FREE Cycle Maintenance Lessons which any UWE Student or Staff Member can come along to and they’re going to host Bristol Beginner Bike Sessions to support those with less confidence in getting on two wheels, learning the way of the road and showing them their local cycle paths.
Green Wheels offer various different ways to get involved in the initiative, as outlined above. To keep updated about what the initiative are doing, make sure you like them on Facebook.
We’re excited to announce that Green Wheels have now moved into their very own Frenchay Campus shop space! You'll be able to find them on the One Zone Patio (above The Students’ Union F block shop at the heart of the campus) open from 10am until 5pm everyday apart from Monday and Thursday mornings.
If you have any questions then drop them a message on Facebook, drop them an email, or come to their shop personally. Alternatively, if you just fancy a chat and a chill then pop in to see them for a cuppa anytime during their opening hours.
