Candidate for the position of Vice President Societies and Communication

Olivia Evans

Hi, I’m Olivia Evans and I’m running to be your Vice President of Societies and Communication. I have been proactive while at university in my role as treasurer for the Psychology Society alongside and my final year at UWE. University in our generation has become so much more than just getting a degree, that is why I want to help all of you benefit from the ever increasing number of societies at UWE, not just socially, but also academically and with employability.

I want to make it easier for you to actively participate in societies, so you can get most out of your experience at being at university. I believe that UWE should offer a means for all students to collaborate with one another and form communities, with societies being a foundation of this. We can further build on this if we make it easier for societies to collaborate with each other. This would allow for bigger events, committee members to improve their networking skills and allow social circles to expand.

Overall I am dedicated to helping you run your society your way and recognise, that for most of us, societies are important in enhancing confidence, honing our skills and enjoying university.

Why should you vote for me?

  • I want to build collaboration between societies, to create a more united Student’s Union that enhances your opportunities to engage with other students with different interests
  • I want to create more activities to enhance employability, by developing relevant volunteering projects that connect the student body to the wider community of Bristol
  • I want a Union that is inclusive to everyone, by creating more activities for all students to become involved with; including post-graduate, mature and part-time students
  • I want an app that interconnects societies, allowing them to stay up to date with events and actively feedback to the Student’s Union on what can be improved
