How to sign up:
Just email thegreenteam@uwe.ac.uk, it will be on a first come first served basis!
Where to meet:
Meet at UWE Students’ Union shop at 11am on Frenchay Campus (The Students' Union at UWE, Union 1, Frenchay Campus, Coldharbour Lane, Bristol, BS16 1QY), then we will walk over to Sims Hill together.
What to expect on the day:
You will have an introduction to woodland management from Jack from the Forest of Avon Trust and Will from Charlton Abbots Forestry Consultancy. No experience is necessary, just a love of being outdoors and learning practical skills! You’ll learn about the proposed woodland management for this community woodland on the doorstep of UWE campus. You’ll be shown how to take part in surveying the site for key features like trees, ponds and viewpoints.
After lunch we will help improve access for walkers by lightly cutting back vegetation from the path edge. Tools, training and lunch provided, but please come wearing sturdy shoes and comfy clothes, check the weather beforehand so you can come prepared (sun cream, water, raincoat?). Members of the UWE Photographic Society are being invited too to capture pictures of the day. Both UWE and University of Bristol students are being invited to come along on the day, hope you can make it!
