The House Clinics have been offering free professional talks and one to one consultations to organisations in Bristol for the past 5 or more years, and people find it helpful to have the opportunity to talk to medical experts on site.
Representatives from The House Clinic’s team of Chiropractors, Physiotherapists and Massage therapists will again be visiting UWE for Feel Good February 2017.
The event will commence with a talk on “Sports Injuries and How to Avoid Them” and "Back Pain and Links to Posture"
This event is designed for anyone who wishes to come and find out more and especially those with niggling aches and pains to have a free personal consultation or simply let the specialists help you to prevent developing problems. (see FAQS)
Anyone can then sign up for a free 1:1 consultation on the day for low back, neck pain and sports injury between 12.35pm and 2.00pm.
The event is completely free.
The focus is on self help, but should the professional recommend any treatment, people from UWE would receive a 20% discount on the initial consultation and 20% for any treatments that were recommended and appointments can be made at one of 3 locations for the House Clinics, at Redland, Queen Charlotte Street and BAWA. Appointments can be made outside of 9-5pm, so this gives flexibility.
Frequently asked Questions
Q: Which specialist might I benefit from talking with when booking an appointment at a Wellbeing Event?
A:
Chiropractic
Neck and back pain
Physiotherapy
Sports injury and joints
Podiatry/Chiropody
Podiatry - Problems affecting the feet, ankles, knees and lower limb - from flat feet to arthritic pain to sports injuries.
Chiropody - Problems affecting the skin and nails of the feet - from hard skin and corns to verrucas and ingrowing toenails.
Q: What happens in the consultation? Can you assess the problem, or literally just provide advice on treatment?
A: In most cases, a brief case history will usually point to the likely diagnosis of the main area(s) of concern. Everyone can expect an assessment of the area they are most concerned about, this is of course depending on the area of involvement as some tests require the patient to be lying down and this is not always possible at the event. The combination of the case history and examination will indicate the likely cause of the problem, if there is one, and the most likely diagnosis. In most cases, some verbal advice will be given and there is literature with postural advice to take away at the very least.
Please book in advance, by emailing feelgood@uwe.ac.uk stating your interest in the talk and, if applicable, which specialist you would like to see for a one to one consultation.
