Embers is one of the biggest social events for our societies, here at The Students’ Union. Hosted at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, the ball promises a night of sophistication, with a champagne reception and three-course dinner. Embers gives our students the opportunity to win some incredible awards and celebrate their efforts over the academic year for their success in events, fundraising and volunteering. The dress code is formal, but not black tie. However students can wear traditional formal dress if they wish, as long as there are no trainers.

"The Society Awards has been a long standing event to commemorate the achievements of UWE Students who have put themselves in positions of leadership and the societies they administer. Over the years this awards ceremony has been presented in various ways, some being on-site and informal and others being black tie with external venues. This year the Awards will be renamed and rebranded as ‘Embers’. After careful consideration, this name was selected in order to convey a feeling of closure to the year whilst implying the potential of what is to come in the years ahead. In accordance to the flames on the awards shields, The Embers is what the Society Awards will be called henceforth. All UWE Students are open to attend and experience a night of performance, food and celebration on a scale never before seen in our society program and I encourage students who might not be actual members of societies to come along and partake in the celebrations! As a former society president and founder, I believe as many people as possible should bear witness to the presentation of these awards to our engaged and hardworking committee members. The awards ceremony will be decorated with a 3 course dinner menu (with Halal and vegetarian options), jazz performances, stand-up comedy routines and a final after party in Revolution." - Bahkai Wynter, VP Societies and Communication
