If you can hold a needle, you can needle felt!
Everyone is welcome to attend – students, staff and friends, needle felting and crafting enthusiasts and those who have never needle felted or crafted before. All materials and light refreshments will be provided.
We will be creating needle felted hearts – both 3D and 2D. You can create wearable hearts, heart flowers, heart decorations, heart bunting and garlands or just a simple heart. February is the month of Valentine’s Day, so you can create a heart for someone you care about. February is also LGBT History Month, so you can create a wearable pride heart. There are lots of possibilities!
We’d love you to create a heart (or two) for yourself or someone you care about, and create one for our craftivism project. We are going to create small bubbles of joy all over campus – leaving hearts for people to find.
There has been a resurgence of interest in crafting in the last couple of decades and crafting is increasingly recognised as a useful tool in promoting health and well-being. Needle felting is a particularly accessible craft for use in health, mental health and educational settings as it requires little skill or prior experience, minimal specialist equipment and the materials are generally inexpensive.
This workshop is an opportunity to do something you already know you love, or try something new, or learn about a new craft that you can use in your work in health, mental health and educational settings.
