The Molly Houses - An Untold History of London's Eighteenth Century Homosexual Subculture Join us as we shine a light on the beginnings of a developed 'Gay' subculture in Britain's capital city in the early eighteenth century through the eyes of the Law, in the form of the contemporary trial proceedings of London's Central Criminal Court, The Old Bailey and the popular reaction to these court cases in the printed press. Through the form of a narrative lecture broken up with dramatised monologues we bring back to life some of the individual's that were involved in the notorious raids on the Molly houses of Moorfields and Holborn in the mid 1720's, with a particular focus on the Raid of Mother Clap's House. All stories researched and performed by UWE students as part of LGBT+ Month. This event is FREE
