Professor Peter Fleming will be giving a talk on Black Figures in the Medieval Period to honour Black History Month. The talk will take place on UWE campusThe history society invites you to attend our talk on black figures in the Medieval Period on the 1st of November.
Professor Emeritus Peter Fleming plans to give an illustrated talk on the subject. He will take us from the idea of a multi-racial Roman Empire, to Islamic North African rulers (from 711 up to the 15th century), to the precursor of the Atlantic Slave trade, before ending with the story of the trumpeter of Sub-Saharan African origin employed by the household of Henry VIII.
The talk is free to attend and it is an hour long with an opportunity for questions at the end. Come along for a 7pm start in room 2X112!
A free ticket needs to be purchased on the SU History page for entry., last roughly 45 minutes to an hour, and will followed by an opportunity for questions.
