Location: Based at Bower Campus. The postholder may be required to work at, or from any of the Union’s establishments.
Salary: £7.82 and for over 25s - £8.32. 5 hours a week in term time for 30 weeks.
Start date: 12th September 2017.

Purpose of the post:

The position shares with all other staff positions a general purpose which is:
To work collectively for the attainment of the goals of The Students’ Union at UWE as expressed in the Constitution, Policy Book, and Strategic Plan & through the decisions of its committees.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
To staff the Bower SU Office- proving advice and guidance and responding to student enquiries face to face, via email and on the phone.
To provide administrative support which includes: fielding all enquiries from students at the front desk, answering telephone calls and deal with routine enquiries or taking messages, responding to the SU bower emails, posting social media content on Facebook and sharing relevant posts from the community team on the Bower Facebook page
To support the co-ordination, promotion, marketing and delivery of Bower-based events and activities, e.g. helping to set up and pack away stalls/chairs, booking rooms, organising transport and engaging with students and the public (if relevant ) at events.
To assist the Community Team by recording and monitoring student engagement in activities and updating spreadsheets.
To research the student demographic on campus in order to create more events that are interesting and relevant to those that live, work and study on Bower.
To engage students in volunteering at SU events to help with raffles, quizzes, and campaigning etc.
To provide support to the elected Bower Campus Officer and assist in the delivery of their ideas, projects and campaigns.
Putting up posters and flyers for the SU events
Helping to keep the noticeboards up to date and recycling old posters
Keeping the swop shop clothes tidy
Sourcing films for the films nights from the Library.
Work in a manner, which reflects the values of the organisation as shown in the Union’s Constitution and Strategic Plan.
Act in accordance with the personnel policies and procedures as approved by the Staff Committee of the Union including Health and Safety Procedures and Staff Protocol Agreement.
Act always in accordance with the financial regulations of the Union as outlined in the Constitution and detailed in the Financial Regulations and Procedures.
Carry out duties with due regard to The Students’ Union at UWE’s Equal Opportunities Policy at all times.
Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be expected given the incumbent’s qualifications and experience.
Supervision and work planning:
The postholder will receive day to day supervision from the Community Manager and the campus co-ordinator (or allocated staff member on particular tasks), but will be expected to work on their own initiative for routine tasks.
