We are delighted to announce that The Students’ Union Bar has scored another Gold award in the Best Bar None Accreditation Scheme. The scheme is a national award supported by the Home Office and the drinks industry which is primarily aimed at promoting the responsible management and operation of alcohol licensed premises.
The accreditation process required The Students’ Union Bar to meet a range of minimum standards that were in line with the aims of Best Bar None. Aims of the accreditation included reducing crime, rewarding excellence, raising standards and encouraging collaborative working relationships between licensed trade, police, local authorities and the private sector.
Receiving the Gold Award shows the commitment The Students’ Union Bar has to ensuring students are provided with a safe area to go at night and also shows a willingness to address alcohol-related crime and anti-social behaviour through the promotion of good practise. Feedback from the BBN assorers at the BBN awards ceromony was that our Students Unions was one of the best prepared when it came to providing evidence for the accreditation and praised our Bar Supervisor, Meg for this as she took the lead on BBN this year.
The Students’ Union Bar, Commercial Manager, Paul Dingley commented, “I am thrilled that The Students’ Union Bar at UWE has received the Gold Award, it shows our dedication and commitment to creating a safe area for all students at UWE Bristol. I would like to thank all the staff at The Students’ Union Bar who have worked hard in helping us secure this Gold status.”
