In response to Trump's Muslim Ban, your Presidents have released a statement.
Last weekend, we all witnessed Trump’s horrific Muslim Ban, refusing entry to citizens from seven predominantly Muslim countries and refugee communities across the globe. This is something we should not be silent about and the world hasn’t been. Thousands across the world have come together for protests of solidarity with Muslims, immigrants and refugees.
The Students’ Union holds inclusivity at the heart of what we do and welcome everyone regardless of background. We reject all forms of racism and fascism, and stand out against Trump’s Muslim Ban. We would like to reassure our students, especially our Islamic community, that you are welcome here.
Our Islamic Society, only last year, won Society of the Year for all their kindness and efforts. From raising over £3,000 for charity to coordinating volunteering projects for the homeless – they go above and beyond for making positive difference to their local community.
If you want to take action and show solidarity, then get involved in activism. Write to your MP and express your concerns, sign petitions, or attend a protest. Get involved with our Islamic Society’s Believe and Do Good campaign and their Discover Islam Week to learn about the selfless and caring nature of Islam.
