On Monday 3 April, The Student Experience Awards 2017 took place at the fantastic At-Bristol. This night set out to celebrate representation and partnership at UWE Bristol. Academic representation is at the heart of what The Students’ Union does, and so the night was all about saying thank you to all our students and staff who have made it the success it is.
The evening started with guests having access to the innovative exhibits At-Bristol had to offer. This was complemented with a free drink on arrival, a photo booth and UWE Bristol’s Jazz Band playing throughout. The awards ceremony was introduced by myself, with some warm and welcoming words from Jo Midgley, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience). The night continued with a three course meal, with 16 awards in total being handed out.
It was so inspiring to hear of so many achievements from across the University. The evening was a great opportunity to reward and recognise the dedication and engagement from University staff, and all our amazing Student Reps, who have been so passionate and determined to make a difference. The night was drawn to a close with Jane Harrington, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, delivering kind-hearted and thoughtful closing remarks.
I would like to thank the Associate Deans and Directorate for their ongoing support and kind donations that made the night possible. I hope everyone enjoyed the evening of celebrating everyone’s successes, and hearing of the amazing work our staff and students have been doing. A massive congratulations to all those nominated and to all the winners – you are all outstanding. See you all again next year!
