The University of the West of England has been awarded Silver in the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
The University of the West of England has been awarded Silver in the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), achieving excellent outcomes for students, in particular with regards to retention and progression to highly skilled employment and further study.
TEF is the Government’s new higher education ranking system, introduced to build evidence about the performance of the UK’s world-class higher education sector.
Decided by an independent panel of academics, students and employer representatives, TEF grades universities a gold, silver or bronze award measuring excellence in three areas: the educational and professional outcomes achieved by students, the learning environment and teaching quality.
A silver rating is awarded to high-quality institutions which 'significantly and consistently exceed the baseline quality threshold expected of UK Higher Education'. In its judgment the panel reported specifically that our students achieved ‘excellent outcomes’.
Here’s what UWE Bristol's Deputy Vice-Chancellor had to say:
“We are delighted that the importance that we place on the student experience and teaching at UWE Bristol is recognised by this award. Our staff across the whole university work extremely hard to ensure that students not only receive outstanding teaching, but also develop while they are with us and are 'work ready' from the day they finish their studies. The fact that we have achieved silver demonstrates the commitment and hard work of all our staff to ensuring this outcome.”
Professor Jane Harrington, Deputy Vice-Chancellor
