Traditionally UWE Netball have been one of the universities most successful clubs.
Both coaches: Chani Wopara and Becky Green are both UWE Alumni and both represented UWE when the team was playing at its highest standard in the Premier League.
The past two out of three seasons, the Varsity Netball against UOB has ended in a draw.
The club this year have been fortunate enough to secure a sponsorship with Enterprise which sees their logo now featured on the women’s kit. Enterprise stated:
Enterprise are proud to be sponsoring UWE Netball club this year. As a company, we value our relationships with the local community. By continuing to strengthen our relationship with UWE students, we are excited to get to know the club members and show them what Enterprise is all about and the great career opportunities available. We are proud to hold the title of Target Jobs Graduate Employer of the Year 2016 – a testament to the investment we put into our graduates and the opportunities for career development that we have. We may be a global company but we certainly have a local feel - after all, we are a family run business who put our customers and our employees first. We are excited to partner with the UWE Netball club in developing a strong relationship to share our combined opportunities and successes.
The club have four teams competing in BUCS and train every Monday evening at the Centre for Sport on Frenchay Campus.
UWE also offer a social sport programme for those who enjoy the sport without the commitment. The social netball sessions are run by our UNO’S (University Netball Officers), which are all UWE students. Social Netball has become more and more popular over the last few years with now over 150 girls signed up playing each week. It’s a lovely, active environment where girls of all abilities can play and have fun socialising.
