Unite Students shares a case study from LGBT student Danny on his experience at university. Read more here.
At seventeen, Danny was out and proud. Unconditionally loved by friends and family. Amazed to think, just two years earlier, he was terrified to say ‘I’m gay’.
But then September arrived, and Danny’s fears returned. Uni felt less like a new start and more like setting the clock back. He felt scared and fifteen again.
What if his new housemates were a bunch of lads? Would they accept him? Should he pretend to be somebody else to fit in?
If you’re feeling anxious about coming out, discover the lesson Danny learned about love and acceptance.
