If you are passionate about housing issues, mental health, sexual health or any other welfare issues the new Welfare Committee is for you!
I am looking to form a welfare committee to support on welfare related campaigns.
Last year there were a variety of campaigns such as World Mental Health Day which spanned across all four campuses, raising money, and saw many students pledge to end mental health stigma. There was also SHAG (sexual health awareness and guidance) Week which gave out contraception, got our sports clubs and societies involved in a chlamydia testing league, and had a HIV Fast Test clinic on campus.
The Students’ Union also signed the ACORN Ethical Lettings Charter which aims for fairer treatment of tenants.
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved, and we are excited to get many passionate students involved in bigger and better campaigns in the next year.
