Bristol is an incredible place to live and socialise with plenty of places to go on a night out. But university doesn’t have to be all about drinking, in line with Alcohol Awareness Week, we have put together a list of nights out you can have without drinking. We are also running an Alcohol Impact Survey and we want to hear your thoughts (you don’t have to drink to take part)! The Lanes

Throwing down the retro vibe, The Lanes is Bristol’s boutique bowling experience. With five vintage lanes, Italian cuisine curtesy of Ray’s Pizza, and even its own karaoke room; a night at The Lanes will always be eventful. You’ll even get a student discount on bowling walk-in rates.

Café Kino

Whether it’s a romantic dinner or a flat outing, Café Kino is a great place to drink, eat and relax. Their extensive menu, which is all vegan, mainly uses produce that is both local and organic so you can eat happy in the knowledge you’re helping independent businesses. Don’t miss their homemade falafel – it’s a rite of passage.

Hamilton House

Hamilton House is a staple of Bristol’s independent community, and is a space where Bristolians are encouraged to create a better world for each other, our community, and the environment. This vast building holds many inclusive events and workshops, from weekly reduced price massages to open sessions on how to improve our local community.

Kong’s

A great option for day or night, Kong’s offers retro 80s and 90s gaming alongside a fantastic food and drinks menu. Play on the arcade machines, beat your friends at foosball, or spend £5 for a 30-minute indoor table tennis session. Based on the infamous King Street, there’s loads of communal seating outside if you want to go and find some new friends to play against.

The Students' Union at UWE

Here at The Students' Union, you can hang out at any of our venues whenever you want and loads of our events are intended to be enjoyed without alcohol - even our cocktail night on a Monday is soon to have a bigger range of mocktails too. Our weekly pub quiz is for everyone - our second and third prizes are drinks vouchers which you can use on hot drinks too!

Scene it cinema

Did you know Frenchay campus has its own cinema? Films are screened every Monday and Wednesday, and are absolutely free for students. The movies vary from recent blockbusters to cult classics ensuring there will be something for your entire group of friends. You can even purchase popcorn and other cinema snacks from the nearby Onezone before the film starts.
