Great things The Students' Union have done on mental health this year

1. Launched our Mental Health Accreditation Scheme 

In January, we launched an accreditation sheme to enable Sports Clubs and Societies to embed mental health awareness in what they do, and to encourage them to run inclusive socials.

2. Raised over £900 for Papyrus

On Friday 22 September, The Students’ Union Presidents ran the Glenside Colour Run for PAPYRUS, the Prevention of Young Suicide Charity. Together we managed to raise over £900 for this important cause.

3. Ran an all student Mental Health Survey

In October 2017, we ran a Student Wellbeing Survey with UWE Bristol, which received 1,961 responses. The findings have been presented to the university on several different levels and we're pleased to say that the feedback is being actioned. 

4. Launched a guide for Academic Personal Tutors

We launched a guide on how to talk to students about mental health for all of our Academic Personal Tutors, encouraging a more open culture around talking about mental health.

5. Had Olympic Gold Medallists visit to talk about mental health

In November, we invited Olympic Gold Medallists, Helen and Kate Richardson-Walsh, onto cmapus to deliver an inspirational talk on mental health in sports, as well as sharing their own experiences of mental ill health.

6. Launched The Students' Union Welfare Awards

In April, we hosted our very first Welfare Awards, celebrating the work and achievements of UWE staff and students throughout the year.
