The Students’ Union at UWE has made the decision to reduce the scale of its operation and will now only operate a skeleton service on Frenchay Campus, continuing to provide a service to any students and staff who may still be on campus.
The Students’ Union at UWE is aware that there are growing concerns surrounding COVID-19. We want the student community to be assured that we are monitoring this closely and are working with UWE Bristol to ensure that we are reacting to this ever-changing situation.
UWE Bristol has suspended face to face teaching from today and moved to online, we are currently working with them to see what impact this will have over the coming weeks.
As of Wednesday 18 March, we will only be opening The Students’ Union U Block Shop, meaning that F Block Shop, Frenchay Union 2, Glenside and Bower Ashton Students’ Union outlets will be closed for the foreseeable future. Upcoming events including Bring Your Own Bowl, SUesday, Swap Shop and all Changing Consumerism events are also cancelled until further notice.
The Union 1 Building will be open from 09:00-17:00 with a skeleton staff, and other staff where possible will be working remotely. The Advice Centre is currently functioning as normal and if staffing availability changes it will remain open, but move online.
We understand that this may be a stressful time and that you may have questions, please click here to view UWE Bristol’s guidance for students, which includes an FAQ section. The Students’ Union Advice Centre is currently open and can provide support via email, phone or in person. On Fridays, the Advice team will be online only, so please contact them by email only on this day. For information on all other wellbeing services available to you click here.
We are continuing to follow the advice of the Government and Public Health England as this situation progresses.
