The Students’ Union at UWE proudly retained our ‘Excellent’ Green Impact Accreditation at the annual NUS Awards last night.
The awards were held at Birmingham NEC and also saw us awarded ‘Overall Highest Scoring Students’ Union’ in the Green Impact programme for the second year running.
Green Impact is the National Union of Students’ (NUS) environmental and sustainability accreditation scheme that brings together campus communities, students and staff to play an active role in improving sustainable practices.
The Green Impact Award is awarded at four levels; ‘Working Towards’, ‘Good’, ‘Very Good’, and ‘Excellent’. In order to achieve ‘Excellent’ we had to achieve over 300 points in their audit of The Students’ Union’s sustainable activities and actions across the 2017/18 academic year. This year, The Students’ Union at UWE received a total of 455 points (91%), a 10% increase on our score from last year.
In addition, The Students’ Union were awarded ‘Gold’ for NUS’ ‘Best Bar None’ accreditation, and our LGBT+ Society were shortlisted for the ‘Participation Award’ – a worthy recognition of the hard work from this year’s committee members.
We are also delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for two EAUC Green Gown Awards, which will take place in November 2018:
