All awards are deliberated and nominations are verified by a UWE panel. Decisions can only be made upon the facts presented in nomination. All nominees must be a paid and registered member of the respective club. Only committee members, captains and Sports Executive are permitted to nominate.

 

 

 

 
 

 

Criteria 

Individual Awards

University Half Colours

  • Students MUST be in their final year (unless in exceptional circumstances).
  • Improvement of personal performance in their particular field of sport.
  • Commitment to sport at The Students' Union Club level.
  • High level of commitment to their club/team, running of club activities, or club development,
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and have been an asset to UWE.
  • Must have represented your team consistently (minimum of two years) in BUCS or equivalent competition.

University Full Colours

  • Commitment to sport at UWE Club level
  • Consistently high level of performance in their particular field of sport.
  • Evidence of regularly organised society activity since ratification.
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and have been an asset to UWE.
  • Participated in/embedded fundraising wit RAG, volunteering or sustainability (Greener Futures Award) within the society.
  • Must have represented your 1st team consistently (minimum of two years) in BUCS or equivalent competition.

University Full Colours with Merit

  • Selected for National Representative Squad: England, Wales. Northern Ireland, Scotland.
  • Outstanding level of performance within their particular field of sport.
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and have been an asset to UWE.
  • Represented UWE in BUCS or equivalent for a minimum of 2 years.

University Full Colours with Distinction

  • Selected for an International representative squad (e.g. Great Britain, England, Wales or equivalent).
  • Extremely high level of performance within their particular field of sport.
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and have been an asset to UWE.
  • Represented UWE in BUCS or equivalent for a minimum of 2 years.

Newcomer of the Year

  • Must be in the first year with the sports club not necessarily their first year at university.
  • A high level of commitment to their sports club in their inaugural year.
  • To have developed their performance and aided the performance of others.
  • A high level of attendance at training and matches / competitions.
  • A positive attitude towards The Students' Union Sports and Activities, the club committee and coaches.
  • To act as a positive ambassador for the club, The Students’ Union and the University.
  • To have put themselves forward for a committee position for the next academic year.
  • Adherence to Sports Committee policy and procedures.

Sports Personality of the Year

  • Only one member from each sports club shall be short listed (unless in exceptional circumstances).
  • This award entitles the winner to a two year honorary membership of the club.
  • Nominees should usually be in their final year of study.
  • Outstanding achievement, commitment and dedication to their field of sport and sports club.
  • Consistent, outstanding performance whilst competitively playing for UWE.
  • Enhancement and development of the reputation of their chosen field of sport/club within UWE or externally.
  • Adherence to Sports Committee rules and regulations & the development of sport/club procedures & training.
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and have been an asset to UWE.
  • Involvement/commitment beyond what would normally be expected of a volunteer in terms of going over and above their agreed hours or role.

Committee Member of the Year

  • Regular attendance at Sports events and meetings.
  • As an individual, has made a high contribution to the clubs activity, reputation and achievements.
  • Encouraged the participation  of members and non-members to engage in events and activities.
  • Exceptional organisation. 
  • Continuous commitment to enhance student experience and engagement within the club.

GREENER FUTURES: GREEN LEADER AWARD 

DEFINITION: This award is given to a student that has shown a great commitment to the programme throughout the year.

Team Awards

Most Improved Team of the Year

  • Significant improvement in organisation of its activities.
  • Significant improvement in performance.
  • Successful development of the team.
  • All team captains to have attended captains training.
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and have been an asset to UWE.
  • Adherence to Sports Council policies and procedures.
  • Effective organisation and communication with The Students' Union at UWE.

Most Improved Club/Sports Club of the Year

  • Significant improvement in organisation of its activities.
  • Significant improvement in performance.
  • A democratically run club with the feelings of all members included.
  • Successful development of the club, strong review of the clubs development with in the mid-year review.
  • Effective organisation and communication with The Students' Union at UWE and Club membership.
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and have been an asset to UWE.

Team of the Year

  • High level of performance in competition, i.e. BUCS league/knockout, local or national competition.
  • All team captains to have attended Captains Training.
  • Enhancement of the reputation of The Students' Union at UWE Sports and UWE locally or nationally.
  • A high level of commitment and organisation.
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and have been an asset to UWE.

sports Club of the Year

  • Excellent organisation of its activities.
  • Consistent high performance.
  • Consistent support and involvement of all members.
  • A well democratically run club.
  • A well structured schedule of training, activities, trips, & updated logbook.
  • Participation in Community Volunteering.
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and have been an asset to UWE.
  • Effective organisation and communication with The Students' Union at UWE and Club membership.
  • Adherence to Sports Council policies and procedures.

Committee of the year

  • High level of communication with The Students' Union
  • Good Organisation.
  • High level of teamwork and cohesion within the committee
  • Good working relationship and communication with membership
  • To have all been a part of the great running of the club
  • To have all acted professionally towards each other and the sports and activities support staff
  • To have gone above and beyond with organisation, including but not limited to; running a large number of trips, attending a number of competitions, hosted an event on behalf of UWE.

Team Spirit Award

  • Must demonstrate a passion and commitment to their sport and team engagement.
  • Encourages and supports innovative and collaborative work within the club that enhances the student experience.
  • The team displays obvious enthusiasm – in supporting teams, appearance, interactions with teams/officials, etc. – at the competition.
  • Spirit is part of the team and is apparent in all they do, including at their training, in their university, with sponsors and other teams.
  • To have all acted professionally towards each other and the sports and activities support staff.
  • High level of teamwork and cohesion within the club.
  • They demonstrate spirit as a unified team. 

sports fundraising club of the year

  • Consistently worked to raise money throughout the year.
  • Organised the most fundraising events.
  • Engaged with the UWE RAG team.
  • Encouraged members to volunteer and created a cohesive fundraising culture. 

THE GREENER FUTURES SHIELD

DEFINITION: Society that has signed up for Greener Futures Award and fulfilled their pledges with creativity and attack.

GREENER FUTURES: OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD 

DEFINITION: This award is given to both a sports club and a society that has gone the extra mile during the Greener Futures challenges.

GREENER FUTURES: BEST SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT

DEFINITION: This award is given to both a sports club and society that have created an impressive single project, campaign or event.
