We are a student-run organisation that is open not only to students studying a science-related degree, but to anyone with an interest in medicine or research.
We host a wide range of activities throughout the year, including lectures from internal and external speakers, museum trips, workshops, first aid training, ethics coffee mornings, social events and much more. We also organise a variety of fundraising events for two charities that we’re more than happy to support and raise awareness of: the British Heart Foundation and When You Wish Upon A Star, a wish granting charity for children living with a life threatening illness.
For those of you who are aiming to apply to medical school, we organise UKCAT and GAMSAT workshops and can provide help and advice on applying. Throughout the year we have talks from people who have studied or are studying medicine, which can give you a real-life view into what working in the medical field is like. For the researchers among you, we arrange interview practice sessions and give you the chance to hear from students who have undertaken research placements.
Aside from the talks and trips, we hold lots of social events including club nights and meals where you can meet new members and get to know the committee.
If you’re looking to meet like-minded people with an interest in medicine, increase your knowledge, or just to have a bit of fun, the Medical Science Society is the perfect society for you.
If you have any questions about the society or ideas regarding what you would like us to do throughout the year, drop us an email or contact us on Facebook or Twitter.
