British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) is the national governing body
for Higher Education (HE) sport in the UK, a membership organisation,
and a company limited by guarantee with charitable status.
UWE JETS have three teams entered in their leagues, and they are as follows:
Men's 1st - Premier South
The Mens 1st team built on their previous successes of the past and finished their debut season in the BUCS Premier with a 4th place position. They showed that they clearly belong among the countries elite teams and showcased the ability to compete with the best of them throughout the season!
Two regular-rotation players graduated in May, and will move on including scholarship player Austin Hill as well as tenacious rebounder Yaanick Nelson; both large contributors for the Jets! But with high interest from incoming freshers and last seasons group of players, they will look to seize the opportunity and make more history! With coach Guy Coles paving the winning mentality and lots of positions to build around, expect another BIG season!
Women's 1st - Western 1A
The Women's 1st team completed their second season in the Western 1A last year and certainly proved that they belong! With another comfortable mid-table position, and some big results showing the potential of the side, they will be looking to grow from strength to strength as they add new players and look to become a force in the West of the country.
Coach Paul Mundy guided the team and its now fresh team core with bundles of experince to another succesful year, and you can tell that the team is just a few steps away from making another step upwards, as aspirations remain high!
Men's 2nd - Western 3A
The Mens 2nd team had a promising season as they finished near the top of standings in the league, a similar result to the last two seasons. Along with a BIG win over Bristol 2nds at Varsity, it shows that the talent is there! With the squad looking even stronger in the incoming 2017/18 season, and ex-player Coach Dave Ward leading the line, the Men's 2nd team will look to break the trend and push for promotion in the 2017/18 season.
