BRITISH CANOEING COVID-19 GOVERNMENT APPROVED AND RETURN TO PLAY GUIDELINES

Welcome to UWE Canoe! A fun and friendly environment where members can come and enjoy our sessions, no matter how much experience you've had.

The sessions we run on a normal weekly basis include a pool session, to help improve technique and have fun playing games in a completely safe environment, and a dock session in Bristol Centre to get people more experience and confidence on the water.

We also run regular trips to Cardiff International White Water Centre and a variety of trips throughout the year, such as heading down for some surf kayaking in Polzeath and paddling in the Brecon Beacons. The club owns a wide variety of boats and safety equipment, so you don't have to worry about buying anything before you can join.

We are also a very social group, and are aiming to still run activities to help new members get to know each other and the existing members, despite the social distancing measures in place. Socials involve nights out, BBQs, pub crawls, and climbing, as well as any suggestions our members have that are popular with the rest of the club - we'll keep you posted on our Facebook page.

The pool sessions we run every week are held at the Richmond Centre pool in Bristol, and are run by the more experienced members of the Club to help improve your technique, no matter what level you are at when you join. The sessions are a mixture of individual training and team games designed with the intent of putting into practice the skills being taught.

This year we will also be aiming to run some courses through British Canoeing, including individual paddle awards and some leadership courses for those interested, but these are not compulsory. The dock sessions we run with the aim of getting newer kayakers out of their comfort zones and onto the water, and for more experienced members it's a good change of pace from the pool and a nice bonding experience - paddling down the river is a fun way to see the historic city of Bristol from a different perspective!

If you're looking for a chance to get active, get outdoors and make friends, why not come to a taster session? Dates TBC.

(Anyone wanting to participate in any sessions must first complete a swim test.)
