Whether you want to play hockey competitively or just for fun, UWE Hockey is a great club for you to join! We cater for people with any hockey ability, whether you an international sensation or a complete beginner, due to our variety of training sessions and programmes. Hockey is one of the largest sports clubs at UWE, with 6 teams in total competing in BUCS Leagues as well as 3 saturday league teams. This year all the teams will be working hard to gain promotion again, especially our Men’s 1 XI and Ladies 1 XI. Bring on the 2020/21 season!

Our teams currently compete in the following leagues and divisions:
Men’s 1st Team: Western 2A
Men’s 2nd Team: Western 3B
Men’s 3rd Team: Western 4A

Ladies 1st Team: Western 1A
Ladies 2nd Team: Western 4A

COVID-19 and Back to Hockey

Training sessions:
Training for Saturday League begins on the 21st September 2020.
Training for BUCS has a delayed start of 19th October 2020.
More info on timings will be provided on the facebook page as linked at the bottom of the page.

BUCS League:
Across all sports BUCS has decided on a delayed start in January, meaning we will play half the amount of fixtures. Teams cannot be relegated or promoted this year. HOWEVER... In replacement of BUCS we are happy to say we have been able to organise friendly fixtures to fill the gap left by BUCS, therefore we hope you will get as much game play in as you would have hoped to.

Saturday League:
Saturday League has a delayed start, but only with matches starting on the 24th October 2020. For the most part Saturday League will run as normal with our two mens teams, and one womens teams.

What we are doing to keep you safe:
- For each training session, players must sign up to their sessions through the link provided by their captains each week. This allows us to run Track and Trace and keep tabs of who played when.
- There will be 30 minute intervals between training sessions to provide the appropriate time to allow us to wash down equipment and ensure there is no crossover of training groups. Equipment also shall not be shared with each training group being given their own set of balls/bibs/other equipment.
- Players will enter through the gates next to the CFS and exit through the gates at the other end of the pitch by North Enterance.
- Please be aware, changing facilities and loos will be out of bands in the CFS.
- All players must complete this form
as stated by England Hockey.
