Riding

BRITISH EQUESTRIAN COVID-19 GOVERNMENT APPROVED AND RETURN TO PLAY GUIDELINES

UWE Riding is a mixed social club catering for people of all abilities from complete beginners who have never sat on a horse before to those who compete on a regular basis. The location for weekly lessons in the 2020/21 academic year for both BUCS and Friendlies will be held at Wickstead Farm, Wiltshire. Our new training facility for the academic year will will provide us with high quality lessons and competitions that are great value for money.

COVID-19 UPDATE:

All UWE Riding activities has been suspended until further notice.

COVID UPDATE FOR BEGINNER RIDERS: Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are now unable to offer lessons to beginner riders. Helping beginners and lead-reining riders is unfortunately not possible due to social distancing measures. When restrictions ease again, we will hopefully be able to open riding back up to beginners. To ride with UWE riding this year, you must be able to ride off the lead-rein and be able to mount and dismount a horse independently.

See our Facebook page 'UWE Riding' to see regular updates from us!

BUCS provides the opportunity for those who are more advanced to compete for the University. If you are able to ride a novice dressage test, jump upto 2'9 (85cm) and get on and ride a variety of horses then why not give the trials a go? UWE Riding has 2 BUCS teams who train every week - commitment to the training sessions is required! If you have got the effort and dedication required then why not sign up! Information about sign-ups and trials will be released on our Facebook page nearer the time.

For those who are unsure about the seriousness of BUCS, the commitment involved or never had the opportunity to compete why not try for our Friendly team? This is exactly the same set up as BUCS but not (quite) as competitive and has a more 'fun' feel! It will provide you with the opportunity to experience a competition and meet other people who are just as horse mad as you!

We also aim to hold a range of socials which include club nights out, meals, day time activities, yearly trip to Badminton and much more! We like to do our bit for charity too, in 2018 we raised almost £1000 and winning the award for sports fundraising club of the year! For the 2020/21 academic year we have a lot of exciting ideas about new fundraising ideas.

If you have any questions feel free to contact us either via Facebook or email - we will aim to reply as soon as possible!

Facebook is also our main way of communicating with you so make sure you have it liked.

We look forward to meeting lots of new members and welcoming you to the club! Make sure you come see us at the Virtual Freshers Fair on Friday 9th October 2020 - if you can't wait till then why don't you like our Facebook page and follow us on Instagram @uweriding.

Make sure to monitor our Facebook page for when the give it a go lessons go live! Come along and have a go at riding without having to join the club until you know you love it!
