Candidate for the position of NUS Conference Delegates
Ensuring the student experience is the best it can be!
My name is Victoria Richer and I’m running to be an NUS conference delegate. I am in my third year of Politics and International Relations and during my time at UWE I have been involved in many volunteering and outreach programmes which have given me a unique and varied experience of university life. Through UWE organised volunteering I spent six months in a local primary school providing weekly support to students which was hugely rewarding and allowed me to represent UWE off campus. Following this I become a Green Ambassador for UWE which involved planning and delivering an outreach programme to secondary school children focusing on environmental issues. Alongside being a Green Ambassador, I also took on the role as Editor in Chief of the POLIR newsletter and continue this role into my final year of studying.
All of these roles have required my time, dedication and hard work and whilst they haven’t always been easy I have always been determined to do the best that I could and make the most of my time at UWE. I will approach being an NUS delegate with the same can do attitude that I have applied in my previous roles and will speak up for students on the issues that matter to us most!
I am aware that there are many areas in which students need more support and if elected I will endeavour to talk to as many of you as possible to ensure that the concerns I raise at the conference represent as many student voices as possible. My main concerns are student loans and mental health, these two areas can deeply affect a student’s ability to achieve and I feel that more should be done about it!
Rest assured that my commitment to students both at UWE and elsewhere in the UK will not end at the conference. I will be publishing a full report of how the conference went and where possible I will help to bring in the changes that students need. I believe every student should have an enjoyable and enriching experience and I hope that by representing students at the conference I am able to challenge some of the barriers that prevent students from making the most of their time at university.
Thank you for reading my manifesto and I hope that you will consider voting for me to represent you at the NUS conference.
