Welcome from your new VP Education
Hello! I’m Lauren your VP Education at The Students’ Union and I assist with all things education related at UWE. This includes lobbying the university on education changes such as course closures or timetabling as well as enhancing the Student Rep system and helping our Reps gain feedback and lead their own campaigns. I also run my own campaigns throughout the years highlighting issues that UWE students face.
One of the things I am currently working on at the moment is the Student Rep system. For me this system is important in gaining feedback from the student body and I want our reps to feel confident to speak to academics about issues concerning them as well as empowering them to make positive change within The Students’ Union. The representation team and I are working together on improving the system for September so our Reps are supported and able to make more changes! If you are interested in being a rep please contact me (vpeducation@uwe.ac.uk) or get in touch with our Rep team (studentreps@uwe.ac.uk)
I am also mapping out my campaigns for the year ahead which I am really excited about. For me, education is why you have chosen to come to university and I want to help students here at UWE have the best student experience possible whilst studying. One of my main campaigns I will be running is around exam stress and making sure that you are the best you can be before you sit your exams. This knowledge will be important and useful for students in assessment and exam time in order to perform well and help you along the way.
Some really exciting news is the Freshers’ announcements tonight! I am so looking forward to meeting both the new students joining us in September as well as the returning students. On that note I am off to the HubRadio station to help announce the line-ups.
Happy Friday everyone!
