Local elections in Bristol and South Gloucestershire are taking place on Thursday 2 May. If you're registered to vote, you can go and cast your vote at a polling place. Commonwealth and EU citizens are eligible to vote in local elections, so don't miss the opportunity to have your vote heard. Find out where you can vote and who the candidates are below:
The Students' Union at UWE is an independent, charity organisation that's run by students, for students. Every student here at UWE Bristol has the opportunity to shape how The SU is run, and elections are a really big part of that!
There are three main election periods that run each academic year, which means plenty of ways to have your say. These are:
Whether you're looking to steer a society or influence national policy, we're confident that there's an election for you. Our elections are open to to any student to vote or stand, and you don't need to be a politics pro to get involved - just bring your passion, energy and ideas and we'll support you with the rest!
Your Representation Team are on hand to help every step of the way, providing training and tips, resources and mentoring. You can contact them any time at: SUElections@uwe.ac.uk

We are currently working with candidates to support them whilst they create their campaigns for the campaigning and voting period. The following are the deadlines and dates of sessions for the Candidate Academy:
Official Elections Timetable
All times 12:00 noon unless otherwise specified.
The Elections Rules and Complaints Procedure can be found here, and the Constitution can be found here.
Please note that due to NUS' constitutional changes, there is no longer an NUS UK conference and it is replaced by an NUS England conference. As such, NUS has not yet confirmed our delegate entitlement for England conference. We will be holding the election as normal but will not be able to count the results for delegates until such a time as our entitlement is confirmed.
You must choose only one Part-Time Officer position to nominate yourself for. However, you can also run to be an NUS Delegate if you are running to be a Part-Time Officer.
You must first nominate yourself to run for a position, this requires two students to support your nomination. Once your nomination has been submitted and you have been briefed on the election’s rules, you will then be entered into the elections.
Nominations in our byelections will open on September 3rd 2024. Scroll up the page to see where you can nominate yourself - you'll want a manifesto, a photo of yourself, and a slogan.
Over the course of the campaigning and voting period, you will need to win the votes of students. How you may go about doing this will be one of the things covered in the Candidate Briefing, which every student standing for election is required to attend.
A manifesto is a declaration of your aims and what you would like to achieve should you be elected. If you are unsure of how to go about writing a manifesto, please contact a member of the Elections Team at suelections@uwe.ac.uk.
The Elections Team are Students' Union staff members who are responsible for the conduct of the elections and ensuring that our elections are free, fair, and accessible to all UWE Bristol students.
