Extra Information:

With the goal of being a smoking free campus by 2030, the university currently states you are not allowed to smoke within 10 meters of buildings and that you should only smoke at designated smoking areas. As far as I know there is only one smoking area on Frenchay campus (near Subway, outside Q block) which most students who smoke on Frenchay campus do not know about or is inconvenient compared to where they have lectures. This gives students a good excuse not to follow the current policy and students are often found smoking in main thoroughfares such as the entrance by the Octogon and Library, or accidentally setting off fire alarms by smoking outside R-block.

Therefore I believe the University should create more smoking areas spread across campus where students can smoke more than 10 meters away from buildings and not in main thoroughfares where they could affect other students health. With more smoking areas available the University should then use security to enforce the no smoking within 10 meters of building rules.
