build playgrounds in uganda with PLAY ACTION INTERNATIONAL

By volunteering with Play Action International on the Uganda Volunteer Project you will experience two or four incredible weeks in the Pearl of Africa, Uganda. You will be living and volunteering within a local community to help transform an empty field into a fun, safe and exciting new playground for a community school. You will also assist on their creative play programme to inspire children at a school to learn, explore and develop themselves through power of play! The highlight of this experience is ‘Opening Day’ – where you’ll get to see the smiles, hear the laughter and feel the joy that a playground will bring thousands of children and help them fulfil their potential!

At the weekends you will have chance to explore the best of Uganda by white water rafting, safaris, horse riding or quad biking along the Nile. Uganda has it all.

Hope for Children creates opportunities for overlooked, vulnerable, and exploited children living in extreme poverty. Our vision is a world where every child has a happy childhood that sets them up for a positive future. We currently work in 5 countries; India, Ghana, Uganda, Sri Lanka, and The Philippines, and we are just about to start our first UK project in Merseyside to support children severely impacted by the pandemic. Our three main areas of focus are; Education, Health & Well-being, and Empowering families.

We will be holding an information session 1 November 17:30 Meeting Room 1, The Students' Union, Frenchay Campus where you can find out more about the below challenges.

Challenges available:

Mount Toubkal (High Atlas Mountains Trek - Morocco)

Reg fee; £300 & Fundraising Target; £1300

This tough but incredibly rewarding challenge combines the unforgettable scenery of the High Atlas Mountains with the richness and colour of Marrakech. Our challenge sees us climbing and scrambling over the huge boulders and rocks of northern Africa’s tallest peak – Jebel Toubkal, standing at a whopping 4,167m! Although not technically climbing, the weather and terrain make this challenge extremely tough and a good level of fitness is essential. However, don’t worry too much about this yet as you will have loads of time to prepare and with our support, you will go out to Morocco feeling excited and ready. We finish in the vibrant city of Marrakech, where the southern tribesmen and Berber villagers bring their goods to the souks.

Deadline for signing up: 5 December

Reg fee; £70 & Fundraising Target; £450

Hope for Children strongly believe in the power of student fundraising. Young people have always been a force for change and this is one way in which students can directly raise awareness and funds for a cause. If taking on a challenge our team will support you through the whole process. From helping you with your online fundraising page to giving you ideas, as well as providing advice and even templates for events, we will be there every step of the way. Don’t be discouraged by the fundraising target, as we feel confident that we can help to reach it!
