BUCS Competitions & events

Members of my club want to enter a competition, what do I need to do? 

If members of your club want to enter a BUCS or external competition, you or a member of the committee will need to complete the following:

• Ensure a trips form is completed for the competiton (both for BUCS competitions and external). 
• Ensure that all members follow the correct entry process for your competition and meet all of the eligibility criteria. A summary of the BUCS entry process can be found below. 
• Ensure that all entry fees are paid for prior to the deadline. You can find out further information on how finances can be processed here. 
• Ensure that all costs associated with the competition (including transport & accomodation) are accounted for within your club budget. 
• Ensure that all members wishing to compete have purchased their relevant membership and sports fee. 

BUCS Individual Competition Entry Process 

1. Competitor Application - competiting students must enter the event via BUCS play prior to the student entry deadline. If the competition requires any "team enteries", please let the opportunties team know ASAP, what "teams" you would like to enter. 
2.  Institution Adminstator Approval - once the student/competitor enteries have closed, the enteries will need to be approved by a member of the Opportutnies team. 
3. BUCS Review - a member of the BUCS event team will then either approve or deny enteries. BUCS will then publish a confirmed entry list, on the relevant event webpage.

BUCS fixtures take place on Wednesday afternoons, with travel for away fixtures potentially clashing with scheduled morning teaching. All lectures should be recorded, and UWE Bristol is committed to avoiding timetabling Undergraduate teaching on a Wednesday afternoon where possible. If you have timetabled teaching activity on a Wednesday afternoon, please speak to your Programme Leader as soon as possible to discuss flexibility for this.
