BUCS Rules & Regs

Overview

BUCS, like any sporting governing body have regulations that all institutions and students should follow. You can find all the general regulations and sport specific regulations here- BUCS Rules and Regulations

We encourage every captain and committee member to read through your relevant sport specific regulations. Below are some key rules and regulations you should know.

Playing under protest

• Some common examples of when you should fill out a playing under protest form are- Not having the correct level of officials (the required level of officials can be found in appendix 5- BUCS Appendices), The field of play dimensions being incorrect and player eligibility.   

Player eligibility

• Must be a registered UWE student that has paid their club membership and the sports fee.
• Must be registered on BUCS play.
• Playing an ineligible or unregistered player= match forfeit and possible fine.
• Eligible level of study- REG 4.1.3 – 4.1.4

• BUCS Appendices- Appendix 6 gives a breakdown of players playing up or down normality. (Moving between the 1^st and 2^nd team).

Misconduct

• BUCS REG 5 Misconduct states that all those involved in BUCS conduct themselves in an orderly fashion when taking part in any BUCS fixture or event.
• All players must abide to the SU & the University code of conduct. If you would like to make a complaint or report an instance, please contact the Opportunties team as soon as you can. 

Zero Walkover Policy

• UWE Bristol have a zero-walkover policy, under no circumstances should teams opt for a voluntary walkover. Conceding walkovers are costly, therefore any team to have conceded a walkover may be subject to losing BUCS funding and support. We may also have to remove the team from competing in future BUCS competitions.
• If there are mitigating circumstances that may result in your team being unable to field the minimum number of players, you must inform the SU ASAP, the more notice we can give to our facilities teams and our opponents, the better chance we have at moving the fixture to a different date.
• Cup competitions have round window deadlines, meaning the game must usually be completed within a 2-week window or must be competed on that date (depending on the tier you play in). Please ensure you check your cup competitions way in advance.
• As mentioned in Appendix 6 (BUCS Appendices), you must always pull players up to ensure you are fielding your higher level teams, you CANNOT walkover your 1^st team game and prioritise your 2^nd team etc.
