Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MIDAS)
Drive minibuses up to 3.5 tonnes MAM (12-14 seats including driver)
Requirements:
- Have held a full UK Category B Driving Licence (car) for at least 2 years
- Be aged 21 years or over
- Hold a clean licence (please contact The Students’ Union at UWE if this condition is not met)
MIDAS MPV Course
Drive people carriers up to 9 seats and vans up to SWB (short-wheel base)
- Have held a full UK Category B Driving Licence (car)
- Be aged 19 years or over
Trailer Familiarisation
If you wish to undertake a Trailer Familiarisation session, please book onto the MPV People Course and then send an email to thestudentsunion@uwe.ac.uk that you wish to do the Trailer Familiarisation in addition.

Cost: £100 for UWE students
Complete the online theory section prior to the practical training
Completion and attendance for both theory and practical sessions are mandatory
Submit an online Drivers registration form, found on the Register as a Driver page here, and provide a copy of your driving licence
You must pass the MiDAS Theory component before taking the MiDAS Practical.
You will not be allowed to take a theory or practical course unless you have prepaid.
You can't book onto a course on the same day as the course is due to take place.
You must be able to produce your driving licence at the MiDAS Theory Session*.
* - If you do not have your driving licence with you in Bristol, we will be happy to accept a scanned or photographed version by email to thestudentsunion@uwe.ac.uk. sent in before the Theory session.
