Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a rapidly growing sport often being showcased as submission grappling at large events . It is predominantly a ground-based martial art, using the principals of leverage, angles, pressure and timing, as well as knowledge of the human anatomy, in order to achieve a submission of one's opponent. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is also a very effective martial art when being used in MMA, particularly No-Gi. UWE BJJ will consist of only No-Gi
We will now also be offering MMA classes once a week. Gumshields and MMA (or Boxing) gloves are all required for MMA classes.
EQUIPMENT (BJJ)
Very little equipment is needed , here is a list below :
• Gumshield (if sparring)
• Rashguard (recommended, but not mandatory. A sports top is okay but most people wear rash guards)
• Bottoms without pockets (recommended, but not mandatory)
Please ensure all piercings are removed or taped before and all nails are trimmed short to reduce cuts.

Memberships are £45 for BJJ and £25 for MMA, with no added session fees !!! If you are unsure and do not want to commit, we have a free taster session. Please message the instagram to book.
A mandatory sports fee will have to be purchased to buy a membership (for any sports club, one time purchase)
This is your sports club committee election for the 26/27 academic year! If you would like to be on the committee for your sports club you must be a confirmed registered UWE student for the 26/27 academic year. You will only be able to nominate yourself for ONE COMMITTEE POSITION ONLY. Once nominations have closed, voting will open. You will be able to vote using an alternative voting system.
