The club welcomes archers of all abilities, whether you have never touched a bow before, or are a competitive archer looking to compete in BUCS, we can help you develop your skills during our sessions. Whilst many members take up archery as a recreational sport, we also compete at BUCS and inter-university regional competitions (SWWU). Both have categories based on experience level, so it’s the perfect opportunity to try competing for the first time.
Our sessions on campus are indoors only, however, if you are looking to shoot outdoors, many of our members also use our local club's outdoor range to practice longer distances.
Outside of practice we also organise regular social events and often spend evenings in the Student's Union after sessions.
Come along and try out archery at our free taster sessions! No previous experience is required and no need to sign up, just show up on the dates below within the given timeslot:
Sunday 8th October: 9:00am-11:00am
If you have any questions about previous archery experience and the need to do the beginners course please arrive at the Tuesday 3rd of October session to speak to our coach.
For people wishing to join the sport for the first time, you will need to attend one of our beginners' courses before purchasing a membership. These normally run in October and January. You do not need club membership for the duration of the course but will need to have paid the beginners' course fee.
You can sign up for either a Tuesday OR Sunday beginners course. These courses will run from their start date for 4 consecutive weeks on the specified day of the week. You cannot mix and match Tuesdays / Sundays sessions on the course. Please stick to the day you purchased a ticket for. You must turn up to all sessions to pass the course.
Beginners Course Dates Autumn 2023:
Each course is running for 4 weeks straight for the dates below. Remember to turn up only to your designated day of the week attending every session.
Tuesday Course: 10th of October - 31st of October
Sunday Course: 15th of October - 5th of November
How to sign up for the Beginners Course:
When a beginners course is available, you will see a Beginners Course ticket for sale under 'Memberships'.
To sign up for the course do the following:
If you change your mind or find yourself unable to attend the course, please email the SU to request a refund before the beginning of the course so that we can offer the space to another student.
On successful completion of this course, you will be invited to fill in your personal details to receive an ArcheryGB membership, which can then be used to purchase a full membership to the club.
More information about the above memberships will become available when the club restarts in the next academic year.
If you are an experienced archer but do not have an ArcheryGB number, please email our committee at email@example.com to discuss attending an evaluation with our coach before purchasing a membership.
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to provide Alumni members with an ArcheryGB membership as they do not count as university students.
