UWE Jets Basketball is one of the largest and most exciting sports clubs at UWE Bristol. The club welcomes players of all abilities, from complete beginners looking to try basketball for the first time, to professional athletes competing at the highest level in the UK.
With multiple teams competing in BUCS leagues and a vibrant club community, basketball at UWE offers opportunities to compete, develop stay active and meet new people. The club prides itself on its inclusive and supportive environment, while maintaining high performance across all teams.
The UWE Jets have three competitive men's teams and one competitive women's team. All teams compete at a high level, while men's first team is a Performance Sport team at UWE, playing in the BUCS Premier South and is widely considered one of the best basketball programmes in the country.
The club has strong connections with semi-professional team Bristol Hurricanes who compete in the British Championship Basketball, as well as the Bristol Flyers who compete in the Super League Basketball.
Alongside weekly training sessions and fixtures, members can also take part in social events, club nights and showcase game days throughout the year.
Training sessions take place weekly at the Centre for Sport on Frenchay Campus, with fixtures played throughout the BUCS season from October until March.

Men's basketball at UWE operates at an elite level and the programme has established itself as one of the best in the country. As a student athlete, you'll experience an outstanding basketball experience, coupled with your academic study.
The team won the BUCS South Premier division, narrowly losing out in the National Championship final in 2023, and they recently won the BUCS South Premier again in 2026.
Under Coach Sam Davis' leadership, consistently competes at the very top of the sport in the UK and recruits professional athletes every season from across the world, including D1 athletes in the US.
