UWE Jets Basketball comprises of four competitive teams (Women's, Men's 1st, 2nd &3rd), recreational sessions, and regular social events. One of the most exciting sports clubs at UWE
The club has been on the rise and solidified itself as one of the best clubs in the South West. Since promotion to BUCS Premier South, Men's 1st team saw there best year to date reaching the Final 8s of the BUCS competition. Growth in the club has seen the 2nd team being promoted to Western 2B and given us the opportunity to introduce a 3rd competitive men's team this year. The women's team are looking strong, with hopes of promotion and recently building their own link with local Division 1 team Bristol Flyers.
We offer a range of performance services (strength and conditioning, nutrition sessions, and more), high-level basketball and frequent social events to our members, making our club the most elite and fun in the South West. Last year saw the addition of our partnership with Science in Sport (SIS), granting players access to their products such as: protein supplements, isotonic supplements, bottles and more. We play weekly games in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) and have close ties to the local BBL and National League team, Bristol Flyers. We also host regular recreational basketball sessions for those preferring to play in a more relaxed atmosphere.
If you have a competitive edge and want to become a part of one of the most exciting teams on campus come find us at the Freshers Fair on Friday 16th of September! We also host a pre-season week for men's players who already possess enough basketball ability to make either 1st or 2nd team, so if you feel like you qualify drop us an email!
The club boasts arguably the best university basketball media coverage in the country with its weekly live-stream, regular highlights and occasional promotional videos, all done by in-house student teams. The 2015/16 season for the Men's 1st in particular enjoyed a fairytale ending with the team winning the league and consequently getting promoted to BUCS Premier South. As a result of that, a documentary is being made with an anticipated release date in September 2016.
Highlight coverage should continue through 2016/17, 2017/18 and hopefully beyond.
We have partnerships with various night clubs in Bristol, so we enjoy numerous discounts and special offers on our regular nights out, many of which feature a fancy dress code to make each evening more fun! Other social events include an All-Star weekend-type day, a trip abroad, and more! Click here for more info
