UWE HOCKEY

From experienced players looking to compete at a high level to students wanting to try something new, there will certainly be a team for you. Alongside playing hockey, we are a very sociable club, hosting socials weekly, with charity events and club dinners happening sporadically throughout the year. We pride ourselves in providing great opportunities for members to make friends, play hockey competitively or just have a fun resulting in a productive and meaningful activity alongside your studies.

Our Teams:

We have 9 teams varying in ability. There are 6 BUCS teams (3 Women's and 3 Men's), and 3 Saturday teams (1 Women's and 2 Men's). Our BUCS teams compete against other universities on Wednesdays, and on Saturdays we compete against local teams.

The club trains at Lockleaze Sports Centre, on our UWE Bristol Pitch, freshly made for us in 2023. (Bonning Walk, Lockleaze, Bristol, BS7 9XF).

Socials and Events:

One thing that we pride ourselves on at UWE Hockey are our Wednesday night socials. These socials are an opportunity for us as a club to relax, celebrate wins and to interact with all the different teams and societies. Some of our most iconic are fresher karaoke, pub golf, halloween, and our christmas and end of season dinners.

UWEHC takes part in many charity events, where we raise money for causes close to our hearts and socialise with all other sport societies are UWE. These include the annual Netball and Volleyball tournaments and the Movember fundraising month.

We also arrange different club days throughout the season, consisting of mixed and friendly matches. This is a great opportunity to meet club members on different teams, playing alongside people you wouldn't normally get the chance to.

As a club we have a zero tolerance policy regarding poor behaviour, such as harrassment, bullying, peer pressure etc. We want this club to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, and behaviour that puts this at risk will face severe and swift repurcussions. Our club prides itself on our ability to maintain a healthy balance between competitive hockey and socials that include everyone.
