Tennis

 

Social tennis gets together twice a week on a Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon. We split our sessions into beginners, intermediates and advanced so that you don't feel out of your depth! The beginner sessions have slightly more coaching elements with the intermediate session being more points and and game play based and finally the advanced session being matches. Usually, the social sessions are a slightly more relaxed atmosphere. Those who want to have fun and enjoy tennis, please come along and don't be worried, as someone from the committee will always be there to welcome you and supervise the sessions. This is a great opportunity to get away from all of the study stress in university and unwind, stay healthy and clear your mind. We want to introduce a few friendly matches and/or competitions as an additional opportunity to play social tennis with a touch more competition. This will likely involve a friendly tournament for those interested or who would like to come along and watch!

This year UWE will put forward 4 tennis teams including 2 men's teams and 2 women's teams. The team selection will be made from team trials conducted end of September / start of October at our courts on campus. Team trials will just include playing points and getting to know you guys nothing too stressful! Once teams have been selected teams will train around 2/3 times a week in preparation for Wednesday match fixtures. The best days!! Away matches always produce great times! The players who will be chosen to represent UWE on the Wednesday match fixtures will be dependent on performance, dedication and attitudes shown within the prior training sessions.

Socials are held every Wednesday night !!! We welcome everyone to our social nights, whether you're playing socially or in a team. It's an excellent chance for everyone to get together, make new friends and make some great memories! Jeremy and Louis will post each week's theme, including details such as the location, times, dress code, fancy dress etc onto our WhatsApp chat. We will usually end the night at Vice (Pam Pams) UWE's legenadry sports night venue joining all the other sports societies for a great ending to the night!  This year we are also aiming to collaborate with other sports societies to create a stronger sporting community within UWE.
