VARSITY LOGO COMPETITION

The Vice President Sports and Health would like to challenge you to design the OFFICAL logo for the upcoming annual Varsity sports day, where UWE takes on University of South Wales (USW) on Wednesday 18 March 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to add a high-profile, real-world project to your portfolio!

Project Overview: The winning logo will become the ​official visual identity for this major event and will be used prominently on event t-shirts, promotional posters, digital media, and other merchandise. 

• Your goal: To create a design that is energetic, versatile, and reflects the competitive rivalry between UWE and USW, while maintaining an on-brand, professional aesthetic for The Students' Union at UWE.

• You can check out UWE SU brand identity here, but there is no obligation to stick to this, its more for inspiration.
• TeamUWE is the "off-brand" we use for sports clubs, you can check out the @teamuwebristol Instagram to get a feel for the nature of the branding/style.
• Under TeamUWE we use "You what? UWE" as a slogan - no obligation to use.
• TeamUWE colour palette and logo can be found below.
• The logo/graphic will be printed on a black t-shirt.

Key Dates:

• Submission deadline: 5:00 PM Thursday 15 January 2026
• Winner announcement: 5:00 PM Friday 16 January 2026

Prizes: The winning student will receive:

• £25 gift voucher
• Piece of merchandise featuring their winning design

 Required Submissions: You must submit the following 4 items digitally using the form here https://forms.office.com/e/YpACHSLfs9:

1. Primary Graphic (Vector): The final, scalable core design, submitted as a vector-enabled PDF.
2. Digital Graphic (High-Res): A .PNG file at 300 dpi with a transparent background for digital use.
3. Mock-up Example: A visual showing how your logo would look applied to an item (e.g., a t-shirt, poster, or banner).
4. Design Rationale: A brief (150-word maximum) written explanation of your concept and design choices.
