SHARIQ SHAKEEL (We The Change)

#WeTheChange

Greetings, fellow students! I'm Shariq Shakeel, a dedicated Master of Laws student, stepping forward to serve as your next Vice President Societies and Communication. Having been an active member of several societies on campus and a committee member of the Pakistan Society, I understand the power of our collective voices and the impact of clear, effective communication. My goal is to elevate our student societies and ensure every voice is heard, fostering a more connected and vibrant campus community.

Vision:

My vision is a university where societies thrive as the heart of our student community, and where every student feels informed, involved, and interconnected. I aim to build a culture where communication bridges us, diversity strengthens us, and engagement inspires us.

Key Values

  • Community Engagement: Building a lively, participative community through active involvement in societies and events.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Promoting an environment where all societies and students feel valued and supported.
  • Innovation in Communication: Leveraging technology to enhance how we connect and share information.
  • Collaboration: Encouraging partnerships among societies, and between societies and external organizations, for mutual growth.

Key Initiatives to be Lobbied

Empower Student Societies

  • Establish a Societies Development Fund to support innovative projects and events.
  • Create a "Society Spotlight" program to showcase different societies each month, increasing their visibility and membership.

Enhance Communication

  • Introduce a monthly digital newsletter highlighting society achievements, upcoming events, and important campus news.

Foster Inclusivity and Diversity

  • Organize an annual "Societies Fair" on a smaller level as compared to the annual Welcome fair that encourages cross-cultural engagement and showcases the diversity of our campus.
  • Develop workshops and resources for society leaders on inclusivity, leadership, and community building.

Strengthen Collaboration

  • Facilitate collaboration workshops for societies to share resources, ideas, and best practices.
  • Launch an inter-society mentorship program to guide new societies and foster a culture of support and knowledge sharing.

Innovate Through Technology

  • Develop an application for all societies to manage memberships, events, book rooms and easily communicate with the staff.
  • Implement feedback tools for students to share their ideas and concerns directly with the Student Union and societies.

Together, we can create a thriving ecosystem of societies and a culture of open communication that enriches our university experience. I am here to listen, to advocate, and to act. Your vote for me, as Vice President Societies and Communication, is a vote for a more connected, vibrant, and inclusive university.
