Candidate for the position of Vice President Community and Welfare
Making your problems at UWE extinct!
I want to be YOUR VP Community and Welfare 2016/17!
My name is Chelsea Mcnulty, I'm the current Community Welfare Officer and a third year Psychology student who has a passion for mental health, wellbeing, science and dinosaurs. I am an active member of a number of societies as well as being on several society committees. I am Vice President of the Mental Health Campaign, which I got involved in because the reason I came to university was to help to end mental health stigma. I'm also on the committee for Hub Radio and Cancer Research Society as well as being the President and co-founder of Dino Soc. I want to ensure that students know how to deal with their finances and how to budget for unplanned costs such as textbooks, agency fees and rent/bills over the summer. I will do this by working on a tool that will help you to divide up your student loan to make sure you can afford to pay rent/bills etc. and still have some money to spend on yourself without getting yourself into debt. I want students to know that I am available to support all societies and sports, not just community societies. Don't hesitate to come to me with your questions or concerns relevant to your society or sport, I will help you as best as I can! I will work with the University Health Centre and The Students' Union to gather and address student feedback to make sure that the service meets the needs of students. I will continue to develop Welfare Matters (formerly Community and Welfare Committee) so that it benefits a wide range of students. I will support the Community and Welfare, LGBT, Sustainability, Disabled Students and BME Officers in their objectives to ensure they get the most out of their time on the Students' Union Executive Team and continue to assist the Students' Union in their ongoing campaigns. I will keep you up to date throughout the year so that you know what projects I am working on and can get involved! I have loved my time at UWE and would like to help every one of our students enjoy their experience as much as I have. I just want to make sure that every UWE student can be all that they are capable of being. VOTE Chelsea Mcnulty #1 VP Community & Welfare 2016/17.
