Candidate for the position of Sports and Health Officer
'Raisin The Standard!'
I’m Roisin, better known as Raisin’s. I’ve spent my time at UWE heavily involved in sport, as Vice President Sports & Health and also more recently as Sport & Health Officer for the Student Union and have enjoyed every minute of it. I began my university sporting journey 3 years ago, when I joined the Windsurf & Kite club. Since then I've held a number of committee roles, most recently the role of President.
Coming to university is an exciting experience, with so many opportunities to gain more than just a degree, and joining a sports club was undoubtedly the best decision I made, and it led me to experience a whole different aspect of university life. This fuelled a passion for university sport and was the key driver in getting more involved with the Students’ Union.
My role for the past year has been an amazing experience, and I would love to have the opportunity to support further development within Sports at UWE and work closely with the VP Sports & Health to support their role in all areas of sport development and student engagement.
I want to work together with the sabbatical to concentrate my time on upgrading the cycling facilities we have on UWE campuses. We need to incentivise students to use cycling as a mode of transport & to increase the security we have on campus for bikes.
A big part of my passion for sport, is inspiring others to get involved, and I’d love to work further on one off events such as the Glow Games, to increase participation in more social, low commitment, fun activities.
This year I've done some work on breaking down the barriers women face when engaging in physical activity or sports clubs, I would love the chance to develop this work and ensure women are well represented within ther sector.
I’d love to play a part in developing the TeamUWE community further, listening to your views to improve UWE Sport!
Committment, Passion, Determination. Vote Roisin for Sports & Health Officer.
