Sport and wellbeing should be a core part of student life at UWE. However, many students don’t participate because of cost, lack of awareness, or feeling intimidated to start.
As your VP Sports & Health, I want to make sport more accessible, welcoming, and beneficial for every student, whether you are a competitive athlete or just starting your fitness journey.
My Priorities
- Make Sport More Accessible
* Advocate for better value and flexible options for gym memberships
* Promote PAYG and trial opportunities
* Encourage more free or low-cost beginner activities
- Help More Students Get Involved
* Organise Try-a-Sport events so students can explore different activities
* Support casual and social sports leagues for beginners
* Encourage participation from international and first-year students
* Promote fitness and wellbeing sessions such as yoga and stress-relief workouts
* Introduce Active Break events during exam periods
* Encourage social sport to help students connect and reduce stress
* Improve communication between sports clubs and the SU
* Ensure fair support and visibility for smaller clubs
* Organise more campus tournaments and sports events
Sport should be accessible, enjoyable, and inclusive for every student at UWE. Together we can create a campus where students feel healthier, more confident, and more connected.
